Yoga is another activity that has a wide spread of advantages for young children. Not only does it develop their flexibility, coordination and strength, but also with their wellbeing, sense-of-self and calmness.
There are many yoga moves that aren't appropriate for young children, but here are some we have found to not only be achievable poses but also to work well as a flow.
Sit on your bottom with your hands together
Move onto your hands and knees and spread your fingers really wide. Round your back and look at your tummy
Dip your belly down and lift your nose to the sky
Keep your hands on the mat and step your feet back. Tuck your toes and make your legs and back into one straight line
Keep your toes tucked and lift your bottom to the sky. Place your head between your arms and look at your toes
Stand up, make your big toes touch each other and reach up really tall, right up to the sky
Now come back down to the mat, with toes still touching, knees together and place your hands down by your feet.
Finish by moving onto your back, legs straight and your hands by your side. Breathe in and out slowly and relax.
